# FloQast alternatives (2026): Compared by why you're leaving

Published October 12, 2026 17 min read

Key takeaways

- The strongest FloQast alternative in 2026 is a tool that does the close work itself, and our Close Agent prepares reconciliations, entries, and workpapers on the ERP you already run, with a named approver signing off before anything posts.
- FloQast's AI is still early: its agents sit in a higher-priced package, agents built from your past closes need your team's testing and sign-off before they run, and by FloQast's own September 2026 figures, agents are live at 125+ of the more than 3,500 accounting teams that use it.
- Judge any alternative by the prep hours it removes from your close, tested on your own accounts, not by how well it tracks a checklist.

The best FloQast alternative is the one that removes the work FloQast only tracks: building reconciliations, chasing differences, and drafting entries. For most teams leaving FloQast, that's our Close Agent, which prepares that work on your existing ERP for your team to approve. Choosing by your reason for leaving saves you weeks of demos and ties your budget to the hours a new tool actually removes. This guide covers what FloQast's AI does today, which alternative fits each reason teams leave, what buyers pay, and how to test and switch without disrupting a close.

We make AI agents for finance teams, including one listed below, and we hold ourselves to the same test as every other tool on this page. Vendor facts were checked on each vendor's own site, in Vendr's buyer data, and on G2 on October 6–12, 2026.

## What is FloQast, and what does its AI do in 2026?

FloQast is close management software that sits on top of your ERP and organizes the month-end close around a checklist, reconciliations, and sign-offs. It isn't an ERP, so it doesn't replace NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks. Seeing what its AI actually covers helps you judge whether a renewal buys automation or more tracking.

- **Close Management package** The checklist, account reconciliations, accounting operations, projects, an AI assistant, and the ERP integration
- **Close AI package** Adds AI agents, AI transaction matching, automated subledger reconciliations, amortization and depreciation schedules, and automatic journal posting
- **Risk & Compliance** Controls, audit readiness, and operational audits

FloQast's AI is narrower than its marketing suggests. Its agents only come with the higher Close AI package. Its Transform tool builds an agent from a close your team already finished, and your team then tests and signs off each agent before it runs. The AI Assistant announced on September 16, 2026 reviews journal entries and recommends fixes, but in FloQast's words, “The human makes every call.” Its COSO governance module for AI agents was still described as coming “soon.”

Adoption is early too. FloQast says more than 3,500 accounting teams use it, and that 400+ agents are live at 125+ of them, by its own September 2026 figures.

## Why do teams switch from FloQast?

Teams switch from FloQast when the close is well organized but their accountants still spend most of their hours preparing the work. Naming your own reason matters more than any ranking, because each reason points to a different fix.

1. **The prep work is still manual** FloQast tracks who owns each reconciliation, but in the base package your team still builds it, investigates differences, and drafts the entries.
2. **The price is hard to justify** On Reddit's r/Accounting, one commenter wrote, “FQ is extremely expensive for what you get…not worth it.” Another thread asked for “similar functionality to FloQast but at a more reasonable price,” for a team that only needed checklist roll-forwards and quick balance sheet reconciliations.
3. **Sync and speed problems at close** In a September 2026 r/Accounting thread, a user reported “technical issues with the trial balance not syncing, errors exporting reports” over the last few months. G2 reviewers also mention slow loading and reconciliation issues.
4. **Missing features as the close grows** On G2, missing features and limited functionality are the two most common complaints.
5. **Security reviews and data rules** Regulated and data-sensitive teams need a tool they can run in their own cloud or on-premises.

FloQast still earns a 4.6 out of 5 on G2 from 1,415 reviews, mostly for ease of use. Teams rarely leave because it's hard to use. They leave because it organizes work their team still has to do.

## Which FloQast alternative is right for you?

Matching your reason for leaving to what you need narrows a long vendor list to the one or two tools worth testing. Use this table to find your starting shortlist.

| Your reason for leaving | What to look for | Alternatives to test |
| ------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The close is organized, but the prep is still manual | A tool that prepares reconciliations and entries for your team to approve | Empty Spaces |
| The renewal price went up | A budget that buys prepared work, or the same checklist for less | Empty Spaces, to put the budget toward hours removed; CloseCore or Easy Month End for the same checklist at a lower price |
| High transaction volume, intercompany, or SOX at scale | Every line checked, intercompany covered, and a named reviewer on every task | Empty Spaces; BlackLine if you already run its matching rules |
| You want to keep NetSuite and avoid a migration | A tool that reads from and posts to NetSuite directly | Empty Spaces |
| Several ERPs after acquisitions | One tool that works across NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Dynamics | Empty Spaces |
| Sync or speed problems during close | A live ERP connection where you can see every query the tool runs | Empty Spaces |
| Your auditors want evidence for every entry | Full history on each entry: who prepared it, who approved it, why, and every change | Empty Spaces |
| Security or data rules block a SaaS tool | Deployment in your own cloud or on-premises, with your own model keys | Empty Spaces |
| You want to try AI without risking your books | A read-only start, with posting switched on later | Empty Spaces |
| A small team on QuickBooks Online with a simple close | Published monthly pricing for a checklist and reconciliations | Easy Month End or CloseCore |

## What are the best FloQast alternatives?

The best FloQast alternative is our Close Agent, because it does the reconciliation and entry work that FloQast leaves to your team. Among FloQast's other competitors, BlackLine, Numeric, and Trintech automate parts of that work with rules and modules. NetSuite's tools keep reconciliation inside the ERP, and CloseCore and Easy Month End are cheaper checklists. Seeing what each one does on the same rows shows where the work actually goes.

| What the tool does | Empty Spaces | FloQast | BlackLine | Numeric | Trintech Adra | Ledge | Hyphenate |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | --------------- | ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------- | -------------------- | ------------------- | ----------------- | ----------------- |
| Prepares reconciliations itself | Yes, every line | Automated, in Close AI | Verity Prepare, since July 2026 | Auto-reconciliations | Rule-based matching | Yes | Yes |
| Drafts accruals and other entries with a workpaper | Yes | Prebuilt or team-built agents, in Close AI | Not published | Not published | Not published | Yes | Yes, entries |
| Stops and asks when data is missing | Yes | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published |
| A named approver signs the exact lines before posting | Yes | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Your team reviews | A person approves |
| Posts to NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Dynamics | Yes, all four | Check your ERP | Check your ERP | Check your ERP | Check your ERP | Check your ERP | Check your ERP |
| Read-only start | Yes | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published |
| Your own cloud or on-premises | Yes | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published |
| Your own AI model keys | Yes | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published |

“Not published” means we couldn't find it on the vendor's site on October 6–12, 2026. Ask each vendor to show it to you live.

### 1. Empty Spaces: Best for a close that's prepared for you

Our [Close Agent](https://emptyspaces.ai/product/close) works your whole close checklist through the month and does the preparation itself. Your team reviews and approves finished work instead of building it, on the ERP you already run.

Illustration: the cash and bank group of the March 2026 close checklist in Autonomous Close. The operating-account bank reconciliation is signed off, the payroll account is in review, the receivables tie-out is in progress and two tasks have not started. A chip shows Run all started four tasks.

#### Does the close work

- **Covers the full close** Cash and bank, receivables, payables, payroll, accruals, prepaids, revenue, fixed assets, inventory, intercompany, and manual journals. You can create a task for any other close work
- **Takes your checklist as written** Each task's text goes to the agent word for word, like an instruction to a colleague, and “Run all” starts every task whose inputs are ready, in order, on the schedule you set
- **Reconciles every line, with no sampling** Matches every statement line, tests every manual entry, and ties every control account to source. Each difference shows its amount, date, source, and reference
- **Prepares entries with evidence** Builds the balanced journal entry and its workpaper, including accruals, prepaid schedules, reversing entries, intercompany, and multi-currency
- **Doesn't guess** When data is missing, it stops and asks, for example for a card statement as a PDF or CSV

#### What one task looks like

Example

In a June bank reconciliation for a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central demo company, the agent matched the bank statement to the cash account and found every difference.

| Item | Amount |
| ------------------------------------------ | ---------- |
| Bank statement ending balance, June 30 | $37,689.21 |
| Add: deposit in transit | $825.18 |
| Less: outstanding payment | $2,140.00 |
| Adjusted bank balance | $36,374.39 |
| Cash account balance in the general ledger | $36,426.99 |
| Less: unrecorded bank service fee | $65.00 |
| Add: unrecorded credit interest | $12.40 |
| Adjusted book balance | $36,374.39 |
| Difference | $0.00 |

The two timing items need no entry. For the two items missing from the books, it proposed one journal entry for $77.40:

| Account | Debit | Credit |
| --------------- | ------ | ------ |
| June 30 | | |
| Bank fees | $65.00 | |
| Cash | | $65.00 |
| Cash | $12.40 | |
| Interest income | | $12.40 |

It attached the workpaper and sent the entry for approval. The task can't be signed off until that entry is approved and posted or rejected.

#### Raises what needs a decision

- **Exceptions with severity** Reconciliation breaks, intercompany differences, missing documents, duplicates, accrual issues, data quality, and approval-threshold breaches, each with an amount and status
- **Payables checks** Supplier invoices checked line by line against the purchase order and goods receipt for vendor, quantity, unit price, tax, and duplicates. A failed check becomes a close exception
- **Receivables view** Aging, part-paid and disputed invoices, how often each customer was chased, promises to pay, and customers over their credit limit

Illustration: the March 2026 tie-outs in Autonomous Close. The operating and payroll accounts and receivables tie to the cent; payables carries one exception, an invoice of $7,200.00 booked to accrued expenses instead of the vendor subledger.

Illustration: the one exception the Close Agent names on the payables tie-out, invoice INV-88213 from Brightwater Freight for $7,200.00, in the vendor subledger but posted to accrued expenses in the ledger.

#### Keeps you in control

- **Approval of the exact lines** A named approver approves the specific lines before anything posts, with approval tiers by amount. The preparer can never approve their own entry, and rejected entries go back to the agent
- **Closed months stay closed** The month can't lock until every task is signed off, and closed periods block ERP writes
- **Full history** Every entry keeps who prepared it, who approved it, why it was made, and every change. An activity log records every step people and agents take
- **Ask it anything** Ask a question in plain English, such as “review June's AP entries and flag anything that doesn't belong, don't post anything,” and see every query it runs against your ERP

Illustration: Dana Ruiz's sign-off, as Controller, of the March 2026 payables tie-out in Autonomous Close, with her conclusion, recorded on the task.

Illustration: March 2026 closed, with all 36 tasks signed off and no entry pending.

Illustration: the trace of one agent run, completed in 24 seconds with 38,410 tokens for $0.04. The model call that ran it spans the run, and the tool calls inside it follow: the skill it loaded, the workspace it provisioned, a NetSuite query that failed and was made again, Plaid, Gmail and the code it ran, each with its time.

#### Fits your stack and your security review

- **No rip and replace** Posts approved entries to NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics, including Business Central, and reads from QuickBooks and Odoo. It connects to Plaid, Ramp, Brex, BILL, Salesforce, Snowflake, Slack, Outlook, and SharePoint
- **Start read-only** Run it next to FloQast without posting, then switch on posting when your team is ready
- **Deploy your way** SaaS in a dedicated AWS account we run for you, your own AWS account, or on-premises, with SSO, custom roles, and SOC 2 Type I and Type II reports
- **Your models, your AI costs** Choose the model provider, bring your own keys, and set AI spend caps by team. It works in English, Spanish, and Arabic
- **Best for** Mid-market and enterprise teams whose close is organized but still manual

Illustration: the AI Gateway. Six model providers and your own endpoint, over the model policy of the Finance Production access group, which the Close Agent belongs to: Claude Sonnet and GPT allowed, every other model blocked, and $186 of a $1,000 monthly limit spent.

### 2. Numeric

Numeric sells close management with auto-reconciliations, transaction monitoring, and flux analysis, plus separate Cash and Billing modules.

- **Where it falls short** The work is split across modules, so the close package alone doesn't include cash matching or JE automation. Numeric also sells a full NetSuite replacement, which turns a close-tool decision into an ERP migration
- **Best for** Teams that want analysis and reconciliation status in one place and will buy several modules

### 3. BlackLine

BlackLine is a long-established reconciliation and journal platform built around matching rules your team configures and maintains. Its reconciliation-prep agent, Verity Prepare, became generally available on July 27, 2026.

- **Where it falls short** Learning difficulty, complexity, and implementation difficulties are common complaints in G2 reviews. Its Vendr median is the highest on this page, and the agent covers reconciliation prep, not the whole close
- **Best for** Large groups already invested in BlackLine's rules

### 4. Trintech Adra and Cadency

Trintech sells Adra for reconciliation and matching at midsize companies, and Cadency for enterprise record-to-report.

- **Where it falls short** Matching runs on rules you set up, and you choose between two products before you start
- **Best for** Enterprises with a mature, rules-based reconciliation process

### 5. NetSuite Account Reconciliation

NetSuite's add-on matches transactions and reconciles accounts on your NetSuite general ledger lines.

- **Where it falls short** It's an extra NetSuite module, it covers reconciliation and matching rather than the whole close, and it can't help if you run a second ERP
- **Best for** Single-entity NetSuite teams whose only close pain is reconciliation

### 6. NetClose by Netgain

Netgain says NetClose automates reconciliations, accruals, amortization, and flux analysis inside NetSuite.

- **Where it falls short** It works only in NetSuite, so it can't follow you through an acquisition onto another ERP
- **Best for** NetSuite-only teams that want close tools inside the ERP

### 7. CloseCore

CloseCore is a lower-priced tool modeled on FloQast's workflow. Its FloQast comparison page says it works with your existing FloQast folders and will price at least 50% below your FloQast contract. Its self-service Close Management plan is listed at $187.50 a month, billed annually, for five users and one entity.

- **Where it falls short** It follows FloQast's model, so your team still prepares the work
- **Best for** Teams happy with FloQast's workflow but not its price

### 8. Easy Month End

Easy Month End publishes its prices: $24, $45, or $89 a month, with Enterprise by quote. The cheapest plan with balance sheet reconciliation is the $89 Company plan, for up to 15 users and 10 entities.

- **Where it falls short** It tracks reconciliations rather than preparing them
- **Best for** Small teams with a simple close

### 9. Ledge

Ledge says its agents prepare reconciliations, working papers, and journal entries for your team to review and approve.

- **Where it falls short** Deployment options, model choice, and how approval works at the line level aren't published
- **Best for** Teams that want agents and a checklist in one product

### 10. Hyphenate

Hyphenate, formerly Maximor, says its agents learn your policies from history and do the fixed-asset, prepaid, lease, and intercompany work, preparing entries with “a person approving, not authoring.”

- **Where it falls short** It's built around subledgers, so check how it handles the rest of your checklist
- **Best for** Teams with heavy lease and prepaid schedules

## Which FloQast alternative works best with NetSuite?

The best FloQast alternative for a NetSuite company is our Close Agent, because it reads from and posts approved entries to NetSuite without a migration. It also handles intercompany across subsidiaries, multi-currency, and full evidence for every entry.

NetSuite Account Reconciliation and NetClose keep reconciliation inside NetSuite but stop at that ERP, so they can't follow you if an acquisition brings a second one.

## How expensive is FloQast?

FloQast doesn't publish prices, but buyers paid a median of $24,481 a year across 312 purchases, with a range of $10,147–$68,727, according to Vendr's FloQast pricing data on October 9, 2026. Knowing what buyers actually signed gives you a fair anchor for your renewal and for any alternative's quote.

| Tool | Median a year | Purchases | Range | Source |
| --------- | ------------- | --------- | ---------------- | ------ |
| FloQast | $24,481 | 312 | $10,147–$68,727 | Vendr |
| Numeric | $15,000 | 48 | $4,320–$41,976 | Vendr |
| BlackLine | $40,125 | 74 | $13,154–$101,000 | Vendr |

AI answers quote far higher figures. On October 9, 2026, Google AI Mode put FloQast at $60,000–$120,000 a year for mid-market teams. Google's AI Overview built most of its FloQast estimate from a pricing post by Numeric, a FloQast competitor. Remember too that FloQast's agents and journal posting sit in the Close AI package, so a Close Management quote doesn't include them.

The subscription is the smaller number. The larger one is the hours your team spends preparing the close, so compare tools on cost per hour removed.

Example

A four-entity team spends 60 hours a month building reconciliations and entries. At a loaded cost of $70 an hour, that's 60 × $70 × 12 = $50,400 a year of prep time. A tool that takes 40 of those hours off the team frees 40 × $70 × 12 = $33,600 a year, which is more than FloQast's median subscription of $24,481.

## Is there a cheaper alternative to FloQast?

Yes. Easy Month End starts at $24 a month, and CloseCore says it will price at least 50% below your FloQast contract. Both figures come from each vendor's own site on October 9, 2026. Both keep FloQast's model, though, so a cheaper subscription doesn't reduce the hours your team spends preparing the close.

If the renewal hurts because you're paying for tracking while your team still does the work, a cheaper tracker moves the same problem to a new invoice. Put the budget toward a tool that prepares the work, and measure the saving in hours.

## Which FloQast alternatives use AI agents to prepare the work?

Our Close Agent is the FloQast alternative built to prepare the close end to end, from reconciliation through approved entry, for a person to sign off. Ledge, Hyphenate, and BlackLine's Verity Prepare also use agents for parts of the work, and the capability table above shows where each one stops.

An agent is only as safe as the controls around its postings. Before any agent touches your ERP, require these five:

1. **Approval of the exact lines** Any change after approval sends the entry back
2. **Separate preparer and approver** No one, person or agent, approves their own entry
3. **Evidence on every entry** Source documents and the calculation travel with the entry
4. **A log of every agent step** Every query and action is recorded for your auditors
5. **Closed periods stay closed** Nothing posts to a locked month

Our Close Agent is built around all five. For the review steps behind them, see [Month-end journal entries: Examples and what to review](https://emptyspaces.ai/resources/blog/month-end-journal-entries#review-checklist).

## Is FloQast better than BlackLine or Numeric?

FloQast is easier to adopt than BlackLine, while BlackLine handles heavier rules-based matching for large groups. Against Numeric, FloQast is the more established close manager, and Numeric splits reconciliation, cash, and journal work into separate modules. None of the three prepares the full close for you, so if that's your goal, compare them against an agent.

## When should you stay with FloQast?

You should stay with FloQast when your close already runs on time and the bottleneck is coordination, not preparation. Switching takes a parallel close and your team's attention, so it should remove real work.

- **Your close is on time and well controlled** If review and sign-off are the slow parts, a new tool won't shorten them
- **An audit or ERP change is underway** Change one system at a time
- **Your prep hours are already low** If your team spends little time building reconciliations, there's less for any tool to remove

If your team still spends days preparing work each month, that's the signal to test an agent.

## How to test a FloQast alternative before you switch

The only test that matters is whether the tool does the prep work or leaves it with your team. Running it on your own accounts for one close shows you the answer in hours, not in a demo.

1. **Count your prep hours first** Log how long your team spends building reconciliations, investigating differences, and drafting entries in one close
2. **Give it a real task in plain English** For example, “Reconcile the operating account to the bank statement and explain every difference.” See whether it does the work or hands you a template to fill in
3. **Check the investigation** For each difference, it should show the amount, date, source, and reference, and say what caused it
4. **Ask for an accrual** Have it find an unrecorded $14,500 consulting invoice for September services and prepare the entry with a workpaper
5. **Remove a document** Hold back one statement and see whether it stops and asks or guesses
6. **Approve and post** Approve the exact lines, post to the right subsidiary, and check the history shows who prepared it, who approved it, and why
7. **Count the hours again** The score is the prep time your team got back

Start the test in read-only mode so the tool works on live data without posting. Our Close Agent supports that, so you can run this test next to FloQast during a normal close.

## How to switch from FloQast without disrupting the close

The safest switch runs the new tool next to FloQast for one full close and cuts over at the start of a new period. With our Close Agent, your ERP stays as it is, so the switch is about moving work, not data.

| Weeks | What to do |
| ---------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Weeks 1–2 | Export your FloQast history: checklist, reconciliations, evidence, open reconciling items, and sign-offs |
| Weeks 3–4 | Connect our Close Agent to your ERP in read-only mode and add your checklist tasks as written |
| Weeks 5–8 | Run one full close in both tools, with FloQast as the system of record, and compare the prep hours |
| Weeks 9–10 | Switch on posting, get the controller's sign-off, and cut over at the start of the next period |

This is an illustrative plan for a mid-market team on one ERP. Avoid cutting over during a quarter-end or year-end close, and check your FloQast notice period so the test finishes before it. [Month-end close process](https://emptyspaces.ai/resources/blog/month-end-close-process) shows where each task falls in the month.

## How we chose these alternatives

We started from the questions buyers ask, including 25 AI prompts in AnswerThePublic and 10 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Mode on October 9, 2026. We kept every tool those answers named as a FloQast alternative and checked each one on its own site. AI tools helped gather and draft the research, and a person checked every fact on this page against its source. We make the first tool on the list, and we scored it on the same criteria as the rest.

- **The work it removes** Whether it prepares reconciliations and entries, or only tracks them
- **Control** Whether a named person approves the exact lines before anything posts
- **ERP fit** Whether it posts to the ERPs you run today and after your next acquisition
- **Price evidence** Buyer-paid medians on Vendr, or published prices
- **Switching effort** Whether you can test it on live data without risk
