Financial close

# Close the books in days, not weeks.

Our autonomous agents reconcile accounts, investigate exceptions, prepare entries and keep the close moving, before your team has to chase the work by hand.

An illustration of the March 2026 close on business day 1: six account reconciliations, four of them tied, a $7,200.00 payables difference under investigation, an $18,600.00 accrual proposed, and two items waiting on the Controller.

## The close slows down between systems.

Finance teams gather data by hand, reconcile accounts, investigate differences and wait for reviews before they can close.

An illustration of seven sources — bank, expenses, payroll, ERP, invoices, spreadsheets and email — all feeding one team that exports, matches, chases and waits by hand.

## Start the close before month-end.

Our agents move the work forward every day of the month, so month-end is a review of what's left rather than a backlog.

1. Connect data — ERP, bank, cards, payroll and the inbox.
2. Reconcile continuously — Every transaction matched as it posts.
3. Identify exceptions — Whatever doesn't tie is raised the same day.
4. Investigate automatically — The records behind it, gathered and read.
5. Prepare adjustments — Entries and accruals, with the support attached.
6. Route for approval — To the person your policy names.
7. Post and complete — Written back once approved, and logged.

An illustration of the Close Agent reconciling through March 2026: transactions matched every day of the month, 17 exceptions raised and 15 resolved or explained before month-end, with two carried into the close.

## The close, task by task.

Six parts of the month-end our Close Agent prepares before anyone asks. Open one to see what it does and what it leaves behind.

- Reconciliations — Match bank, card, payroll and subledger activity against the GL.
What our agent does
Pulls both sides live, matches line by line, and prepares the workpaper with every unmatched item listed and explained.
1010 · Operating account — 2,480 bank lines · 2,480 matched · difference 0.00
- Exception investigation — Trace unmatched transactions and gather supporting evidence automatically.
What our agent does
Searches the ledger, the subledgers and the inbox for the records behind an unmatched line, and says what it found and what is still missing.
AWS $12,480.00 — bank ✓ · invoice ✓ · GL 6120 ✗ → posting missing
- Accruals — Identify missing period expenses and prepare supported accrual entries.
What our agent does
Compares recurring vendors, contracts and statements against what has been invoiced, and drafts the accrual with its basis attached.
Carter & Webb · March services $18,600.00 · not yet invoiced → Dr 6410 / Cr 2100
- Journal entries — Prepare entries with source evidence and route them for review.
What our agent does
Drafts the lines, attaches the records they rest on, and sends the entry to the approver your policy names. Nothing posts before that.
JE-4472 · 2 lines · statement attached · awaiting Controller
- Variance investigation — Investigate unusual account movements before final review.
What our agent does
Flags movements over your threshold, drills into the transactions behind them, and writes the explanation a reviewer would ask for.
6510 · Travel +65.4% on February → 3 offsites, 41 transactions
- Close review — Give Controllers a live view of remaining exceptions, approvals and risk.
What our agent does
One view of what is tied, what is open, who is holding what, and which items carry the most money, updated as the agent works.
40 of 42 accounts tied · 2 exceptions open · 2 items waiting on review

Worked example

## One exception, from bank line to approved entry.

An AWS charge clears the bank in March, but nothing reaches the ledger. This is what our Close Agent does before anyone goes looking.

**14 March.** A $12,480.00 debit from Amazon Web Services clears the operating account. There is no matching posting in the general ledger.

1. Finds the debit on the bank feed while reconciling 1010. Agent
2. Searches the ledger: nothing posted to 6120 Cloud hosting, or anywhere else, for that amount. Agent
3. Finds AWS invoice INV-2026-0314 in the AP inbox: same amount, same date. Agent
4. Concludes the charge was paid but never recorded: a missing posting, not a mismatch. Agent
5. Prepares JE-4471 with the bank line and the invoice attached. Agent
6. Routes it to the Controller, who approves it as proposed. Controller

An illustration of the journal entry the Close Agent prepared for the AWS charge: $12,480.00 debited to cloud hosting and credited to operating cash, with the bank line, the invoice and the ledger search attached, waiting on Controller approval.

## Faster doesn't mean uncontrolled.

Every entry arrives with its evidence and waits for the person your policy names. The record shows who prepared it, who approved it and what was posted.

An illustration of the audit trail for one exception, in four stages: the agent's investigation, the evidence and proposed entry, a controller's review and approval, and the journal entry posted afterwards.
